WHO WE ARE
We are Athens County residents, and we love living here. We are not a big business, and this project is very exciting to us. We recently developed a web site like this for Athens County, and the response has been great.

We sent out some emails to Hocking County Businesses and were even more excited to get this web site off the ground.

My wife, Amanda, handles the sales and marketing end of the business. I handle the technical side. We have three young boys, Christopher, Bayley and Tristen - all under the age of three. So when my wife stops by your business it's a sure bet that I am in the van with our boys (throwing grapes and french fries).

We started this web site (Our 2nd in a series) because there is a need for it. There are a lot of nice web sites out there - but not one allows you to post as freely as we do. And not a single business that I know of gives away ABSOLUTELY FREE web hosting just because you live in Hocking County. And you don't have to have much technical ability to build a web site because I wrote software that does the work for you. If you can read and type - that is about all you need.

The best aspects of our web site is that we allow businesses to add their inventory to our system. They can add, edit and delete as they wish. The response to this has been fantastic.

As more and more businesses add their inventory to our system, this web site will become one of the most important resources in the region. Visitors can visit, search and truly purchase products and services locally at one place, Virtual Hocking Hills.com.

We are currently developing a Windows and MAC-based program where users can search and utilize our information directly from any computer -without being connected to the Internet. There will also be a Handheld (Palm, Windows) version also.

We are also expanding. We have an established web site in Athens County (www.athensohio.biz). In April 2006 we will have a sister site in Marietta, Ohio. In May we will have web sites for Columbus and Pittsburgh. Businesses can opt to have their inventory available on those web sites also.

Our infrastructure is very sound - and probably better than most in the area. We utilize Unix servers running Apache 2.0. Our servers have Dual Xeon processors and 4 GB of RAM. We can handle more than 1,000,000 database processes a day with no trouble. We monitor them 24/7 and backup daily.

My wife's background is Motherhood - which she does quite well.

My background is in Software Development and Search Engine Ranking. I have been in the Internet business for over 13 years, and a consultant for Fortune 500 Companies for the first three.

FOR HOCKING COUNTY RESIDENTS

Inventory Inclusion

We developed software to enable realtors, local car dealers and other businesses that carry a product inventory to post their products for sale directly to our web site (athensohio.biz). This web-based module will allow you to add vital information about your inventory, including a photo. You can list an unlimited number of items.

Your listings will be added to our classified section and our search listings. Users will easily be able to view and print your listings from our web site.

Your inventory is available online in eight ways:

1. It is available through our classified ad module
2. It is available as a web page on our web site at www.virtualhockinghills.com/yourusername
3. It is available in the right column when someone makes a search and your product meets the keyword criteria.
4. It is available on our home page where we list the last five items added to our classified module. As more are added the listings move down, and then finally off from this list.
5. On Special Offers pages we set up. We plan to do this monthly - mostly related to holidays.
6. On other Community Directories we developed (ie. Marietta, Athens, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Wheeling) or will develop in the future. (you may opt out of this choice if you do not want to ship your products)
7. We also include a free web site for local businesses that advertise with us. Your inventory can be displayed there.
8. And on any web site you choose. We will provide you with all the software you need to add your inventory elsewhere.
